Birthday Trash Truck Arrives!

Hey Uncle Matt and Aunt Rae Rae,

William says "I want to say thank you." (No kidding, by the way, I didn't even prompt him. He came running to the computer to talk to you - but you aren't signed in. Probably because it's 10:30pm there.)

Love, William

Guitar Cake Party

No kidding - I made a guitar cake. With William's help. Although the last two hours he was sleeping. It's what he's been dearly wanting FOREVER. And it had to be red like Joel's guitar. It's pretty cool to have a boy so aware and passionate and incredibly willing to help. I can't believe he's three.

Joyce and the girls and Sean and Kevin and Katie and Jessie and Ethan all came to party with us. It was a whole lot of fun.

February 18th - William's 3rd Birthday!

Oh, what a sweet day it was! Will turned three - and I kept wondering how all this time had gone by so quickly. We got him "turn-out gear" to augment his current collection (of fireman boots, which are really puddle jumpers from Target, socks for his hands as "turn-out gear sock-gloves" and red plastic give-away firemen hats from the fire station). He was completely overwhelmed last night, and other than the hat didn't put any of it on. But then I came home today and he had been wearing his "turn-out gear" all morning. Off and on, off and on. For nap time we folded it carefully and put it on top of his dresser (because that's where firemen would put it). He also explained to me that he just used it to "put out 'tend fires." (That's 'pretend,' by the way.) Then he carefully told me about how he "just loved his turn-out gear, because it's what real firemen wear." Melt a mother's heart. I'm so glad we got him something he loves, and I'm so grateful for this boy!
